shibori tova

wikstenshibori13 wikstenshiboridetail13

An exploration into natural vat dyes and shibori techniques. I used the beautifully designed Wiksten Tova sewing pattern and created a tunic with a shibori placket, inset, collar and sleeve trims. The cotton voile was a pale blue and I over dyed it with tannic acid and iron rust in the body of the tunic. The shibori was done with hundreds of tiny little rubber bands. My fingers still hurt thinking about tying them all!
